01 Who we are
Cold Take ("the app", "we", "us") is an iOS decision-journaling app. This policy explains what the app does and doesn't do with your information. The app is operated by Josh Welford, based in the United Kingdom.
02 What we collect
Almost nothing. The decisions, reasoning, confidence levels, and verdicts you record are stored locally on your device. They are not transmitted to us, and we have no way to access them.
We do not require an account, an email address, or a sign-in. We do not ask for your name, contacts, location, or photos.
03 Data stored on your device and iCloud
Your takes are saved in the app's own storage on your iPhone. If iCloud is available and enabled, Cold Take can sync your record through your private iCloud database. That sync is provided by Apple and governed by Apple's terms, not ours.
We do not operate a server for your takes, and we do not have access to your private iCloud data. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. There is nothing on our side to delete because we never received it.
04 Analytics and crash reports
Cold Take does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. If you have chosen to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple may share aggregated, anonymised usage and crash data with us through App Store Connect. This data is not tied to your identity and never includes the contents of your takes. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your iPhone.
05 No selling, no ads, no tracking
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and the app contains no third-party advertising trackers.
06 Children
Cold Take is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
07 Your rights
Because your takes never leave your device, you are already in full control of them. Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct, and erase personal data we hold — in practice, we hold none. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and you will be told what changed.
08 This website
The Cold Take website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process standard request information, such as your IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the site. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers, or Cloudflare Web Analytics on this site.
09 Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll revise the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
